Mixing : Blackwoods proves to be a versatile and amiable mixer, albeit one that rarely stands out as unique in flavour. The subtle floral notes make cocktails such as the Aviation a neat choice, the result being an easy-going version of this classic.
The Le Jardin , with its use of blueberries, apple juice, lavender bitters and Champagne too plays to the flavour profile of this gin, however the additional complexity of flavour sadly draws attention away in a manner which seems inappropriate for a product highlighting the subtleties of its vintage production.
A similar effect is seen in the signature Shetland Storm recipe below ; wonderfully refreshing but not discernible from other gins. With such gins, simple is always best, and the creme de mure-laden Bramble is a fitting combination of Scottish fruity flavours.
